The most recently-published author in our Civil War Campaigns and Commanders Series is Than Dossman. Dossman is the author of Campaign for Corinth: Blood in Mississippi, about the important 1862 battle in the Western theater of the Civil War
for the key Corinth railroad junction. He began the project as an honors
thesis at McMurry University, where he majored in history. As the manuscript progressed, his professors
realized it had potential as a published book and encouraged him to pursue
this goal. When the manuscript was ready, it was submitted anonymously
to specialists for review as with any manuscript submitted to the Press,
and they gave it a hearty thumbs up. The rest, as they say, is history.
Dossman graduated from McMurry with honors this spring 2006. He is now
beginning graduate study in history at Texas Christian University, working
for his Ph.D. degree.
Dossman combines his writing talents with an interest in video, having
worked on history film documentaries. He has also put together a clever
introduction video to the Vintage Base Ball program at the Buffalo Gap Historical Village, which you can view by clicking on the image at the left. (Warning: since
the movie file is rather large, don’t try this unless you have a broadband
connection to the Internet!)
